Merry Christmas 201411:49:00
Look who I saw out on the road this morning...
There is so much that I could talk about here today but I want to keep it as short and sweet as possible for you to sum up another great year. It is Christmas after all.
Though the posting and my presence here has been rather sporadic since the little michellen man arrived in August, it has still been a great joy to have this space and I have greatly appreciated all the comments, the likes, and surprisingly the few mentions out in the inter webs far and wide. All of which I did not expect to happen simply just doing something I enjoy.
Even better, I stumbled upon some more wonderful blogs and have watched a few of my favourites go great guns and feel very proud for them as I know how hard they work and what is involved to be successful.
The kids of course continue to be my greatest achievements so far, regardless of what year it is.
You would have to say that the arrival of Oliver in August would have to be the biggest thing that happened for our family.
Four months in and you would think he has been here forever already. He has just slotted right in, no fuss and puts up with everything and anything. It must be encoded in them at birth being third born I reckon otherwise they wouldn't survive.
Hugh and Edith are great friends and continue to love and annoy each other in equal amounts. They do everything together and since Edie could talk in sentences which happened sometime mid year (and rather well may I add) it has been nice seeing them playing and making up the most interesting games and watching their little adventures transpire. Hugh does all the bossing mostly whilst Edie just follows along. I foresee the format of this play arrangement taking a steep turn in the weeks to come as that darling little girl of ours is becoming what they call a 'big girl' and that precious baby fades away. (So sad!) Determination and Independence and 'No' are all coming to the party!! We also have Hugh starting three year old kinder next year and he and I are very excited about that and what it will bring. I have even started my committee career.
What has surprised me this year was a sudden 'slap in the face' realisation at how much of a selfless task this mum gig is, especially when it comes to 'me ' time. Everything has gone on the back burner since the baby, I don't think I expected it to be like this somehow. What was I thinking? ha ha!! I felt like I had heaps of time to do 'stuff' with the two kids, but adding another has made it a different playing field for sure. So much time has been taken away it seems, especially for blogging and just for myself. Oh to read a book!!
As relenting as it is some days, it still is the best job and I think I'm doing alright at it. So much so, number four has not been ruled off the drawing board. YET!!
Now it would be amiss to not mention the hubster here too, cos you know he is pretty awesome. Cam has been as good as ever and has worked really, really, really, really (you get the picture) hard with his business this year and I am very proud of him. You would never guess he is stressed through the roof at times or that a customer riled him over the phone on a particular day. He is just so calm and collected. Its going to be brilliant to have him around now for the next three weeks doing not much at all and I know the kids are really going to love it as well. Bring on Holidays!! (I bought him a chess set for Christmas and I foresee many drink/chess sessions taking place on the deck at the beach house over the coming weeks) I won't beat him in a game, but ill do my darned best to win a piece or two. Challenge set!
As for next year, well so far I look forward to:
Blogging - More of it!!
Gardening- More of it!
Camera Club - I have set a goal to enter all the monthly comps.
Holidays: Noosa in August
Wedding: My sister is getting married in October.
Freedom: The freedom that comes from not breastfeeding. The training has begun; rather unsuccessfully I might add but we will get there and Im already booking tickets to Strictly Ballroom in April and I might push my luck for Dan Sultan in Feb. ha ha!!!
I hope you have a fantastic Christmas and that Santa finds you. May your Summer be Hot for those in the Southern Hemisphere and your glass be full. Take care and Ill see you back here in Jan or Feb some time.
