Another scorcher of a weekend on the weather front has past us by. It certainly was a nervy affair out at the farm yesterday sitting on 41 degrees for the most part of the day, especially with that gusty northerly wind and then the southerly change in the evening. It just so happened that it was Cam's dads turn yesterday morning to take the local CFA truck for a spin and check that everything was in working order, which it was. Hugh and I went along for the ride and you couldn't help but think that something bad was going to happen yesterday with that horrible wind. Hugh of course was in la la land. He couldn't believe his luck sitting up in a fire truck. Fortunately our local area and district was unscathed for yet another high fire danger day.
This however was not the case for friends of the family who live in Riddells Creek just out of Melbourne. It was devastating to hear that they had lost their house yesterday. We are certainly praying and thinking of them today. I just cant imagine what that would be like.
A shout out and a huge thanks must go out to all the hard working CFA members, SES crews and the local Fire Brigades who do such an important and amazing job in our communities and keep us all safe on days such as these.
On happier note, it is certainly much cooler this morning which is just lovely and there is a hazy cloud of smoke hanging in the air to kindly remind us the fire danger is not over yet. I am certainly enjoying this cool start to the morning, with the weather man telling me that we are heading for a measly top of 36 degrees today. Will it ever end? A bit of washing on the cards and a walk to the shops for a few grocery essentials for us today. Probably endless picking up of toys for the day and I reckon that'll do it. At least it wont be too hot for the kids to head outside for most parts of the day. Allelluia!!!!
Ill leave you with a few pics from the last few weeks out at the farm, out at the block and our little CFA stint yesterday.
