Snow Peas

Our backyard is quite large as far as a country town backyard goes. We have a shed, chooks, veggie patches, pots, concrete and a lush green lawn. It looks like the average Australian backyard and is a work in progress. Whilst it is by no means a garden oasis, I like to think of it is being full of happy little oases. One of these little oases at the moment is the snow peas growing in the veggie patch. You wouldnt think so; but on closer inspection....
This has definitely been the most successful and enjoyable crop for me over the winter season. Not only on the produce side of things but they are quite an attractive little plant. The slender and curly shoots , the dainty and pretty white flowers and the beautiful shade of green of the leaves and peas. They taste great and after they are done and dusted, they will have filled the soil full of nitrogen ready for the tomatoes that will take their place.
I always have help on hand to harvest.
I planted sweet peas at the end of autumn. This is the plant I am most excited about next in the veggie patch. I've always wanted to grow them and cant wait for them to flower, and then to pick them and have beautiful blooms inside.
What are you looking forward to harvesting?
Do you have a large garden oasis or little oases like me?
